No flash fiction this week, due primarily to procrastination. Instead, I'll share some photos I took over the holidays, mostly of water and light (with a few trees thrown in). I have a feeling that until I get some kind of grip on the edits to
Death By Adverb I'll be burrowing into the archives for photos on more Fridays that this. [Note: progress is happening on DBA. I have figured out, I hope, most of what needs to be done. Doing it, of course, is always another matter.]

Treetops |
I sat on the ground to photograph the twinkling lights in the pussywillow tree. Still trying to figure out why the lights flared that way.

I think this is my favorite abstract for the year. |
Great pictures, especially the ones with the lights.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I have to figure out why the lights streaked like that, though. It's a cool effect here, but I won't always want it :)
DeleteI really like that last picture! I like the reflections of the trees in the other pictures. I don't know where these were taken, but in a couple of those pictures, I can imagine a lazy alligator in the water.
ReplyDeleteNo gators! These are all taken in Chico Creek, in the upper part of California's Central Valley. For those under a lot of snow, this is the heart of winter :)
DeleteBeautiful pictures. I've always liked the look of water reflected the sky above like a mirror.
ReplyDeleteMe too! And I really like the oil-paint look of water abstracts.
DeleteI adore that last one - definitely abstract of the year!
ReplyDeleteI think Chuck's first prompt of the year lacked inspiration, which is why I gave up on it. I hope they improve - but not sold on the new week's either.
Thanks. Sometimes I get lucky :)
DeleteYeah, I couldn't get any traction with the prompt. It was a little too obvious, I think. And the new one isn't easy for me, since I don't listen to music the way he does. I am SOOO tempted to use my favorite line from Kat Eggleston's song about "Too much **** in my purse": "It took 3 days to find my cat."
Gorgeous. Makes me think of back home in the Carolinas. There are some beautiful water ways out there. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
