On the road again

This was supposed to be an excited "gone hiking" post about heading into the Canadian Rockies for a few weeks. Sadly, I developed a bad case of plantar fasciitis (if you don't know what that is... consider yourself lucky indeed), and won't be hiking for the next month or two, at best. But we're off to visit the family in Seattle, so there's that :)

Since we are staying closer to civilization, I'll have wi-fi more often than I'd expected, but since I'll be busy, I've lined up a guest post, as well as a few pre-arranged posts of my own, and am letting the book reviews go a bit.

Please forgive me if I'm slow responding to comments, but I will get back to you!

  1. Hi Rebecca - I've had plantar fasciatis for years ... it is a pain the *** - but it comes and goes ... change shoes regularly ... move your feet around - but don't fret about it ... it's here to stay and I usually walk through it ... but you're right I wouldn't go hiking.

Hope it eases off ... and you're able to enjoy the travels - albeit not exactly what you'd intended ... while Seattle will be fun - cheers and all the best - Hilary

    1. Thanks! Yes, I’ve had PF before, but never this bad. I’m at least able to walk now, after a cortisone shot. Just have to remember that’s fake healing, not the real thing. When it gets back to a normal level I’ll resume activities :) I’m getting new inserts for my shoes; the old ones that have worked so well are almost a quarter century old!

  2. Nope, never heard of plantar fasciatis. Sorry to hear it's put a dent in your plan.

    1. Consider yourself fortunate! PF is usually a thing for runners. Obviously, it can nail hikers, too, and I’ve heard of people who get it without doing either :)

  3. I used to suffer from plantar fasciitis, especially when I was orienteering. I fixed it mainly by doing foot stretching exercises night and morning. Just simple point and flex, really. But rest helps :)
