Suspense is where the fo...You have it pretty right. Suspense is where the focus isn't on "who" but on "how is the hero going to survive." You often know exactly who. Mystery is all about whodunnit, and neither the reader nor the hero should know until it's about all over. Crime I think of as either the "true crime" sort of thing, or landing somewhere between mystery and suspense, with the focus on the crime rather than the puzzle. Definitely darker than mystery, though the mystery genre encompasses a lot of territory from comedic to seriously grim.<br /><br />There--clear as mud, right?Rebecca M. "In Farleigh Field" rolls of the tongue rather nicely.<br /><br />Probably not going to read this, but it sounds like an interesting setup, and if it's historically accurate that's also great.
